The Shelley Memorial at University College, Oxford, where Percy Bysshe Shelley was for a short time a student. The marble statue by Edward Onslow Ford depicts Shelley having washed ashore in Italy after drowning in 1822, aged 29.
Shelley’s grave has engraved upon it Cor Cordium (‘heart of hearts’) and, in reference to his death, Nothing of him that doth fade / But doth suffer a sea-change / Into something rich and strange from Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
The statue has been subject over the years to numerous student pranks, including the application of paint to a certain part of Shelley’s anatomy, and once the room where it was kept was flooded and live goldfish were released into it.

Every time I see this picture I think of The Saint
